illumination of shiny disks on billboard

Billboard with Down-Lights

SolaRay’s primary objective is to gain attention. With its highly reflective qualities SolaRay can be as effective day or night when properly illuminated. In day the Sun provides all the necessary light to make SolaRay sparkle, at night a properly positioned Halogen Flood Light will make it shine as well.

Let’s use a billboard or bulletin as an example remembering that each SolaRay disc acts as a multi-faceted mirror that reflects light from a free pivoting position like a sequin.

Daytime: The Sun’s directionality plays an important roll in SolaRay’s impact. Bulletins and signs facing eastward or westward are most effective for taking advantage of the sun. However, because of the Sun’s 180 degree path each day any fixed position sign, providing there are no obstructions, will gleam.

Nighttime: Directionality is unimportant, but power is a factor. We recommend SolaRay be illuminated nightly with Halogen Lamps. When illuminating SolaRay, we suggest lighting it from the top down to ensure a reflection is cast onto passers-by as illustrated in the graphic. SolaRay will reflect light in the opposite angle it is projected at, like the geometry involved when playing a game of pool. If illuminated from the bottom up, SolaRay will cast its beams of light upward toward the sky limiting the reflections onto onlookers.
